Franco Ordine for MilanNews.it is reporting that AC Milan have communicated to the City Council of Milan that they want to accelerate the process for the new stadium project. Milan consider the stadium to be a fundamental part of their growth strategy and one that will allow the club to compete with the elite of Europe in terms of revenue. Milan publicly congratulated Mayor Giuseppe Sala on his re-election and now want to get the definitive go-ahead to break ground.
The report states that there have been questions around Inter Milan’s ownership and finances in the past and these issues remain a slight risk for the project. The report notes that Elliot Management have informed the Council that there are private investors willing to step in and fund Inter’s share of the project as Milan could go at this alone. This is a major development as it shows the dedication of the club to barrel forward and get the approvals as the time component is critical.
