AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic who turns 40 years old today received a call up for his national team as came out of retirement for Sweden last season. The striker was expected to play in the upcoming international break but this was surprising given his injuries both last season and this season. The striker has only played 1 game for Milan but managed to score 1 goal in it. The player is currently recovering for an Achilles injury and will return to group training in the coming week.

The head coach Janne Andersson confirmed this via Fotbollskanalen:

“Unfortunately, Zlatan hasn’t come far enough in his rehabilitation process to be with us this upcoming camp. It’s a shame for us and also Zlatan of course.”

Calcio Mercato are reporting that Ibrahimovic still wants to play for his country as he hopes to renew with Milan for one more year and to feature at the World Cup in Qatar in the winter of 2022 as a goodbye.
