AC Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan will undergo surgery today for a wrist injury. The France international has been in exceptional form and will be sorely missed while he is away. There are various estimates on how long he will be ruled out for ranging from 10-15 days to 2 months as per the usual outlets.
A club statement via Sempre Milan states:
“The persistence of painful symptomatology on Mike Maignan’s left wrist requires, after a specialist opinion, an arthroscopy that will be performed tomorrow by Professor Loris Pegoli.”
Antonio Vitieillo is reporting that Maignan was present at the La Madonnina Clinic this morning for the preparation of his surgery which is scheduled for this afternoon.
MilanNews.it are reporting that the wrist issue has remained since the opening Champions League game against Liverpool FC when Maignan saved the penalty of Mohammed Salah. There is some concern as he could be ruled out for the rest of 2021 if there is damage to the ligament of the wrist.
