The former AS Roma captain underwent tests in Rome yesterday and will undergo surgery today thus is not expected to feature for a while.
Milan could get a number of players back for the clash against Atalanta this weekend as new signing Junior Messias will be available to Stefano Pioli and part of the squad for the first time. Simon Kjaer will also return to the squad and may start in the place of Alessio Romagnoli for the crunch tie.
