Milan need a major reinforcement to cover for the lack of depth in attack and the veteran striker could be the best possible option for the moment.

Gianluca di Marzio via MilanNews.it is reporting that AC Milan have been in contact with Giovanni Branchini - the agent of former Croatia international Mario Mandzukic over a possible short term deal for the striker. Milan have followed the striker previously when he left Juventus to join Al Duhail. The striker is now a free agent after terminating his contract with the Qatar based side. Milan have spoken with his agent and the player could be a good backup for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, he is 34 years old and vastly experienced. He would also add a winning mentality and a ferocity that could propel Milan to some silverware.

Vito Angele for Milan Reports is also stating that Paolo Maldini has spoken with the player and his agent over his role in the current Milan side. The player's versatility would allow him to act as a striker or a left winger which benefits the Rossoneri greatly. The report adds that the only stumbling block will be the salary of the player who currently earns 5 million euros whilst Milan are only likely to offer much less.

Mandzukic has scored 197 career goals and has won 4 Serie A titles, 2 Bundesliga titles, 1 Champions League title and even 1 Qatari title this past season. The veteran is a World Cup finalist and has won the Club World Cup in his extensive career.
