MilanNews.it are reporting that AC Milan have a three man shortlist for the defence. Milan have done well to reinforce the midfield significantly and ensure the attack remains solid from last season but the defence is lacking additions. The defence is already spread thin due to a number of injuries hence a signing is urgently needed. According to the report, there are three names of the shortlist:
Nikola Milenkovic from Fiorentina - The 23 year old centre back is valued at 40 million by Rocco Commisso's side but would likely be able to leave for about 30 million euros. He is represented by Fali Ramadani who has a good relationship with Milan and has been in constant contact with the Rossoneri all summer. Milenkovic could be a good long term solution who has space for growth but also brings significant Serie A experience.
German Pezzella from Fiorentina - The 29 year old defender would be an experienced addition to the squad but is currently the captain of Fiorentina and a top performer thus signing him could be tough. He is valued at about 15 million euros.
Wesley Fofana from St Etienne - The 20 year old French defender played a hell of a campaign last season holding down the starting spot in the league and helping his side to the French Cup final where he put it a good shift against PSG. The youngster is valued at 30 million euros and Milan have already had a bid for him turned down.
Each of the options would add something to the squad but you would obviously lean toward Milenkovic as he adds both experience and longevity. He would also likely slot in easily next to Romagnoli while Fofana might need to time to adjust.
