Calcio Mercato are reporting that AC Milan could keep Matteo Gabbia as part of the centre back rotation this season after some solid displays covering for injured captain Alessio Romagnoli toward the end of the previous season. The young centre back was reportedly set for a loan move away to further gain experience but seems to have done enough to convince Stefano Pioli to get chance. Milan are currently spread thin as both Mateo Musacchio and Alessio Romagnoli are out injured. The current fit centre back for the upcoming season opener will likely only be Leo Duarte, Simon Kjaer, Matteo Gabbia and potentially Gabriele Bellodi (if he isn't loaned out by then).
