The young midfielder impressed in Serie A this past season with Brescia despite his side getting relegated and is considered to be one of the top prospects out of Italy especially given his midfield role.
Tonali played 36 games in all competitions last season as a central midfielder, he scored 1 goal and provided 7 assists in all competitions.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed the transfer last week confirming that it will be a loan with an option to buy.
Sky Sport Italia via Football Italia are reporting that the documents were exchanged last week for the player and the deal is essentially done. The medicals are the only aspect missing.
Tonali is expected to wear the no. 8 shirt as it is available since Suso left and it was formerly worn by his idol Gennaro Gattuso who he considers to be his inspiration.
