Manuele Baiocchini via MilanNews.it is reporting that AC Milan are currently working on securing a back up for Gianluigi Donnarumma who will likely start in the UEFA Europa League for the club over the course of the season. The priority is to secure the return of Asmir Begovic from AFC Bournemouth as he was appreciated at the San Siro last term but his wages are deemed excessive for a back up at 2 million euros per year. Pepe Reina has already been allowed to leave to Lazio as a result of his high wage and being a backup.

As a result, Milan put out feelers and reached out to AS Roma for Antonio Mirante but received a resounding no, as the club do not want to reinforce their direct rivals. Milan also reached out to Sassuolo to ask about the status for Andrea Consigli. The situations for a goalkeeper to deputise Donnarumma needs to be resolved quickly as the season opener beckons.
