AC Milan faced Novara in their first pre-season friendly of the 2020/21 season and came away with a 4-2 win with some promising play in attack and some extremely shaky defending. Milan went down 2-0 in the first 20 minutes off cheap goals that stemmed from confusion in the box. Leo Duarte did not look convincing at all.

New arrivals Emil Roback and Pierre Kalulu drove the side’s attack in the second and third periods with their blistering pace and quick feet. Zlatan Ibrahimovic set up Lucas Paqueta for Milan’s first goal which the Brazilian took well faking a shot and rolling the ball into the net. Roback drew the defenders down to the line before squaring back to set up Diego Laxalt for the second goal. A few substitutions ahead of the third period added some fresh legs giving Milan the chance to press even more against Novara. Paqueta took a low shot from outside the box but hit the post, Davide Calabria pounced and scored off the rebound. The final goal was a the capitalisation of a good move where Paqueta scored a lovely tap in to cap a solid game from the out of favour midfielder. Stefano Pioli’s men walk away with a 4-2 win and another comeback victory true to his form.
