AC Milan faced Bologna in their season opener in Serie A at the San Siro. Stefano Pioli's took to the field with a very familiar starting eleven compared to the end of the previous season. Milan eased to a 2-0 victory to win their first three points of the season but could have done much better. Zlatan Ibrahimovic opened his league account in the first half with a display of strength to jump and connect with Hernandez cross for a powerful headed finish to make it 1-0. In the second half, Ismael Bennacer was brought down right at the edge of the box leading to a penalty. Ibrahimovic stepped up and coolly blasted the ball into the top right corner beating the keeper who dove the right way. The 38 year old striker could've had a hat trick as he rounded the keeper but could not pull off a proper shot with his left foot.
