Gazzetta dello Sport via MilanNews.it are reporting that Lyon are not the only club chasing out of favour AC Milan midfielder Lucas Paqueta in recent weeks. The Brazil international was dealt a blow this week when manager Stefano Pioli excluded him from the squad travelling to the Republic of Ireland for the season opener in the Europa League. This led to increased speculation of his time at the San Siro coming to an end. Lyon have been heavily linked in the past two weeks but the report adds that Valencia are trying to enter the race.
Valencia reportedly put forth a deal to Milan sending Geoffrey Kondogbia to the San Siro in exchange for Lucas Paqueta but Milan's management shot this idea down. Kondogbia formerly played for Inter Milan and turned down the club years ago. On top of that he is a below average midfielder who would not be able to compete with the current crop of midfielders on the squad.
Both Lyon and Valencia are expected to review the offers and submit improved bids for the midfielder who desperately needs a fresh start to get his career back on track. Milan are reportedly looking for 22-23 million euros for the midfielder.
