Simone Cristao is reporting that the priority target for AC Milan at the moment is to sign a centre back. The Rossoneri back line is lacking depth and a bit of quality as it currently stands. The goal as per the report is to sign a defender regardless of age who can start immediately and improve the team now.
The current defence has Simon Kjaer, Matteo Gabbia and Leo Duarte fit. Alessio Romagnoli and Mateo Musacchio are injured. Kjaer and Gabbia have done well enough but Duarte has not been convincing at all. Romagnoli should return in the coming weeks but the addition of a starting calibre defender would make all the difference in a long season.
The names of target floating around for this position have been Wesley Fofana (who is heading to Leicester City), Nikola Milenkovic and German Pezzella from Fiorentina (where negotiations seem tough).
Paolo Maldini in an interview via MilanNews.it also stated:
“The idea is to always improve the team, the priorities have been covered, now we have some problems with the central defenders due to injuries. All we can do between now and October we will do to improve the team.”
