MilanNews.it are reporting that Lorenzo Colombo could be given an opportunity to play in the season opener for AC Milan against Shamrock Rovers in the Europa League. Zlatan Ibrahimovic did not feature in either of the past two friendly games against Vicenza nor Brescia where Colombo took his place and even managed to score in both games. The striker looks likely to be a part of the striker rotation alongside Rafael Leao but could more effectively be used as a target man. The 18 year old scored 3 goals in 4 pre-season games with a streak of scoring in three consecutive games.

Rafael Leao will likely be asked to start on the left wing as Ante Rebic serves his suspension in European competitions. Daniel Maldini, Brahim Diaz or Samu Castillejo will likely be alternatives for that spot.

Ibrahimovic has reportedly missed the games due to a bruised leg and is working to recover in time for the game on Thursday evening. The striker took place in training this morning as per Antonio Vitiello but it remains to be seen whether he will be fit in time for the game. Vitiello states that he is expected to start.
