Fabrizio Romano is reporting that talks are still ongoing between AC Milan and Chelsea for France international Tiemoue Bakayoko but they have significantly slowed down since the impasse over the buy out option was reached.
The past week has been full of reports on possible alternatives to Bakayoko and the main man seems to be Boubakary Soumare from Lille but the club is unlikely to sell if they do not receive a huge sum as they turned down a 35 million euros offer from Newcastle United this week as per Fabrizio Romano which Milan are unlikely to match.
As we reported here, Bakayoko remains the priority and the skeleton for a deal is already in place for a loan with an option to buy. The issue remains the buy out clause which Chelsea want at 30-35 milion euros but which Milan want at 15-20 million euros. Bakayoko is eager for a move back to the San Siro as he dominated in Serie A during his loan spell in 2018/19 but this stumbling block is holding up Milan from having an unbelievably stacked midfield consisting of Franck Kessie, Ismael Bennacer, Sandro Tonali and Tiemoue Bakayoko for the upcoming season.
Interestingly though, Bakayoko seems all but certain to leave Chelsea this summer as he was not assigned a shirt number and not included in the squad list as can be seen here or below.
