AC Milan on their website have officially announced the signing of Italy international Sandro Tonali from Brescia on a one year loan deal with an option to buy. The player who is a lifelong Milan fan will wear the no. 8 jersey worn by his idol Gennaro Gattuso as he occupies a similar to the the legendary midfield enforcer.
The young midfielder is one of the top Italian prospects and one of the most promising players in Serie A last season. Tonali plays primarily as a defensive midfielder but can alternate as a central midfielder. Tonali has 35 appearances in Serie A and 53 appearances in Serie B where he has scored 6 goals and provided 16 assists.
Tonali will round out a stacked rotation of central midfielders in Stefano Pioli's 4-2-3-1 system alongside Ismael Bennacer and Franck Kessie for the upcoming season. Milan are also looking to add one more midfielder to this solid line-up.
