Sky Italia via MilanNews.it are reporting that AC Milan have closed the deal for Sandro Tonali from Brescia but prior to the completion of the deal, the youngster will need to sign a contract extension to protect the club in case Milan do not exercise their option to buy. Tonali was expected to join Inter on a permanent deal for a couple of months but the club stalled for too long and Milan pounced on the opportunity to sign the young Italy international.
The midfielder is expected to extend his contract which is due to expire in 2022. If Milan do not take up their option to buy him next summer, he would return to Brescia with just a year left on his contract putting Massimo Cellino in a difficult negotiating position. The club wishes to avoid this scenario hence are looking to attain some sort of safety net.
