AC Milan travelled to face Sampdoria at the Luigi Ferraris with an opportunity to lock dopwn the 6th place spot for the season. Zlatan Ibrahimovic kicked off the scoring within 3 minutes connecting with Ante Rebic's cross. Milan had numerous chances throughout the first half but failed to add a goal. Rebic was part of a kerfuffle that got him booked thus he will miss the final game of the season.

In the second half, Milan came out guns blazing with Calhanoglu scoring early on followed Ibrahimovic scoring his second goal. Simon Kjaer conceded a penalty which Donnarumma saved. A little while later, Askildsen caught out Donnarumma with a stunning curler from outside the box. To cap the game, Rafael Leao picked up the ball just at the edge of the box and placed it well to pick up another goal. Milan won 4-1 and guaranteed a 6th place finish, marking a huge achievement by Stefano Pioli who took over at the club when they were 13th.
