Vito Angele is reporting that there was a positive meeting between AC Milan's CEO Ivan Gazidis and Technical Director Paolo Maldini yesterday over the future of the latter at the club. Maldini was largely expected to depart this summer following in the footsteps of Zvonimir Boban over the arrival of Ralf Rangnick.

The deal for the German manager collapsed and Stefano Pioli has been extended. A lot of the decisions of Maldini and his counterparts have been vindicated by the incredible run of form after the lock down. His signings of Hernandez, Bennacer, Rebic, Ibrahimovic, Kjaer and Pioli have all been hits. This overshadows the failures of Paqueta, Piatek and Giampaolo. The club legend looks likely to remain now as the report indicates.
