L’Equipe have reported that AC Milan have closed a deal for Lyon full back Pierre Kalulu on a bosman deal. The report indicates that the 20 year old's contract with Lyon expires on the 30 of June and Milan took the opportunity to pounce for the right back. He is expected to sign a 5 year contract after being convinced of the deal by Paolo Maldini. The youngster is expected to be Milan's first signing for the 2020/21 season pending his medicals which are reportedly scheduled for Monday the 15th of June (if travel allows). Previous reports as we noted here stated that Milan will likely pay a 500,000 euro development fee to Lyon for the defender. Final approvals will come after the player travels to Italy for the deal to close.
Kalulu has yet to play for the first time but had a stunning campaign with Lyon's Youth team as the captain. He featured in the UEFA Youth League making 16 appearances where he provided 3 assists. Kalulu is perhaps a solid target due to his versatility as he has alternated between right back and centre back thus could slot into either role depending on his development at Milanello. The defender has been capped by France's U20, U19 and U18. Kalulu would be fighting Conti and Calabria for the right back spot or could potentially be groomed as a centre back, he is a huge prospect and seems to have Maldini's rubber stamp. The report has been echoed by Sky Sport Italia, Fabrizio Romano, Gianluca di Marzio and was broken by Bilel Ghazi thus this seems all but a confirmed done deal.
