AC Milan and Inter Milan presented an updated feasibility study to the Municipality of Milan presenting the plans of the two competing firms, 'Two Rings’ from Manica Italy and ‘Cathedral’ from Populous in the United States. The firms edited the designs to integrate feedback from the municipality of Milan where they met 16 conditions provided in November 2019 according to AC Milan press release.
As highlighted by the image below, the most evident change is the integration of part of the San Siro into the plans in both designs. This condition was set after intense discussions in February as we reported here. Thea idea outlined then was the maintenance of the orange grandstand, one tower and one curva. The images below though seems to have different variations on the the area maintained.

According to the press release, “The new concepts designed by Populous and Manica / Sportium provide for the retention of a part of the current Giuseppe Meazza Stadium within a new retail and sports district that can be used 365 days a year, including about 106,000 square metres of green space (nearly double the current 56,000 square metres of green space on the current site).”
The press release concluded, “AC Milan and FC Internazionale Milano believe it is essential, especially in light of the current moment, to commence a project that represents more than one billion euros of private investment, which will generate thousands of new jobs and serve as a cornerstone for the future development of the city of Milan and Italian football."
It is important to consider that the dire economic situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic could lead to the project being expedited considering the huge investments that would be injected into the city and the scale of jobs to be created. On the contrary, the profitability of a stadium and social spaces will definitely take a negative hit if the measures of social distancing are prolonged and no vaccine is found for COVID-19.
