Daniele Longo via Calcio Mercato is reporting that AC Milan are looking to raise funds for a major midfield addition in the summer transfer window. The reporter is noting that Lucas Paqueta is the likeliest candidate to be sold off to raise about 35 million euros. The top two candidates for Milan will be Brescia's Sandro Tonali and RB Salzburg's Dominik Szoboszlai.

Milan are looking to add a versatile midfielder who can alternate between a mezzalla and regista role. The main objective will be to release Ismael Bennacer to play in a more advanced role and the two youngsters would slot in magnificently. Both have made strong impressions for their respective teams but Tonali would be the priority given his experience in Serie A and his higher ceiling. He is also slightly better suited to the regista role and would be another key young Italy international to add to Donnarumma and Romagnoli. Szoboszlai does provide better attacking output and a creative spark for transitions in the midfield. In an ideal world, Milan could play a midfield three of Szoboszlai-Tonali-Bennacer. Either of these additions would strengthen the team as they could rotate with Kessie and supplement Bennacer. Anto Vitiello via MilanTalk is noting that Szoboszlai is the cheaper alternative to Tonali and notes that only one of the targets would arrive.
