Vito Angele of Sempre Milan has provided some updates on AC Milan's summer mercato. He kicked off noting that the summer transfer window could go between September 1st to October 1st but pre-contract agreement can be signed from July. Here are the main takeaways from his update:
- On Tanguy Kouassi, Angele notes that the young centre back is a huge prospect and Milan have pounced on the opportunity to sign him. Angele notes that Milan have received a ‘yes’ from the player over a bosman deal but PSG are looking to tie him down to a contract. He claims a source close to the club states that negotiations are underway.
- On Dominik Szoboszlai, Angele reports that there are continuous contacts between Milan and the agent of the Hungary international to open up a deal. Milan are reportedly looking for a discount from RB Salzburg with the aim of closing a deal for about 20 million euros.
- On Jeremie Boga, Angele is declaring that Milan are interested in the Ivory Coast international after his stunning displays for Sassuolo this season. The club value their left winger at 25-30 million euros but Chelsea maintain a buyback on the player.
These updates have similarly been corroborated by Anto Vitiello on Twitter as he declares that Milan’s Chief Scout Geoffrey Moncada is speaking to Kouassi’s family attempting to convince them of the move and that Milan are battling Lazio for Szoboszlai but Rangnick could tip the scales in the Rossoneri’s favour.
From the updates, a few ideas for the mercato become clear. Milan are looking to secure a centre back to partner with Alessio Romagnoli long term. The side are also focusing on adding pace and technical ability to the middle of the park. Szoboszlai can play in place of Kessie or Castillejo depending on the makeup of the squad. The approach of Boga shos that either Rangnick has no confidence in Rebic or the Croatia international will be transformed into a second striker.
