Nico Schira is reporting that AC Milan are battling Leicester City for the signature of Celtic FC centre back Kristoffer Ajer. The 21 year old Norway international has played 49 games in all competitions this season as Celtic sit atop the Scottish Premier League. He's even managed to score 4 goals and provided 2 assists to go with his 20 clean sheets. The versatile defender has featured regularly as a centre back but kicked off the season at right back, his speed and technical understanding are stunning and his strength is a huge asset. Milan have been linked to him since early March as we reported here when his agent noted he will not renew and look to leave the club in the summer.

The report claims that Milan CEO Ivan Gazidis is in advanced talks with the agent of the defender. Ajer seems like a much more realistic name for Milan than RB Leipzig's Dayot Upamecano given the price and the competition. Ajer would be a good shout for a long term partner for captain Alessio Romagnoli at the heart of the defence. He would be the first Norwegian to play for the Rossoneri since Steinar Nilsen in 1997/98.
