A report from Calcio Mercato is purporting that AC Milan held a meeting quietly with RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano over a summer move. The centre back has been a target over the past year but has been too expensive for the club in the past. The 21 year old has 27 appearances for his club this season and is an undispuited starter in the side rivalling Bayern Munich for the Bundesliga title this year. The youngster is a France international and is a huge prospect to partner Alessio Romagnoli at the heart of the Rossoneri defence.

The youngster is in high demand and has a 60 million euro release clause but he looks to be worth every penny. The centre back would be an incredible upgrade and could solve Milan’s defensive woes for a generation. Now, the potential arrival of Ralf Rangnick in the summer to tip the scale in Milan’s favour as the new manager is close with Upamecano and has played a role in his discovery. Rangnick was the Sporting Director who signed Upamecano to RB Leipzig and brought him to the forefront in the three seasons that followed.
