AC Milan youngster Matteo Gabbia made his Serie A debut yesterday against Torino. The centre back played 45 minutes coming off the bench to replace an injured Simon Kjaer and managed to maintain the clean sheet. Gabbia partnered Alessio Romagnoli admirably and handled the pressure of Belotti and Co. well. Gabbia has played two competitive games for the Rossoneri thus far, once in the league and once in the cup.

Gabbia played for Milan's Primavera (U-19) between 2016 and 2018 before being loaned out to Lucchese for the 2018/19 season. He made 30 appearances for Lucchese in the Serie C-A and the play-offs last season. The youngster has also been capped by the Italy national team in the U-21, U-20 and U-19 squads. The defender is a major prospect and is following the likes of Patrick Cutrone, Manuel Locatelli and Davide Calabria in recent years going from the Primavera to the First Team. The defender seems likely to earn more minutes this season given the stretch of games ahead and the fatigue issues with Kjaer and Musacchio.
