Before the match the hype was at an all time high as the San Siro was sold out for the derby. To many Milan fans were surprised Milan dominated much of the first half. They came out strong and led to chances early, finally Milan fans had hope. Milan moved the ball crisply and to be honest they looked like a changed team. Milan Twitter was going crazy as the team continued to press on and actually make plays. In the 40th minute Milan broke through with a goal from Ante Rebic giving Milan the 1-0 lead. Just 5 minutes later in the dying seconds of the half, Zlatan Ibrahimovic gave Milan a 2 goal lead going into the break. Little did we know this spark of hope wold soon be destroyed.

The second half was a complete disaster for Milan and it left many Milan fans depressed. In the second half Milan were nowhere near as aggressive and this hurt them in a big way. Just 5 minutes into the second half Inter Milan scored to bring it within 1 goal. After this goal, they were like a turtle crawling back into their shell and with that Inter scored again to tie it at 2. Milan had their chances but it just felt like Inter were going to end up on top. To nobody’s surprise Inter capitalized on Milan’s mistakes scoring 2 more goals to put the game away. If there was a bright side of this match it showed that Milan can compete with the top teams in Italy. Milan are still a very young team and clearly lack mental strength, but how low should Milan fans be waiting for success?
Now we will look at the player ratings for AC Milan
STARTING LINE-UP
Gigio Donnarumma: Can’t even blame Gigio for anything here. He made saves when needed but was left in no man’s land too many times. 6/10
Andrea Conti: Like I said last week it seems as if every right back on this team just can't get it together. Conti was the one who played Alexis Sanchez on side for Inter’s second goal and this hasn't been this first time he’s done that. 4/10
Simon Kjaer: Just terrible, weak, I really don't know what else there is to say. 3.5/10

Alessio Romagnoli: Usually Romagnoli is the strong part of a weak defence but today he was to blame as well. Inter’s third goal was nice but it could have been stopped if there was a little bit better marking by Romagnoli. 4/10
Theo Hernandez: Kind of a brutal game from Theo here. Like the rest of his partners on defence he was poor and going forward he was unusually wasteful. 4/10
Ismael Bennacer: In the first half Bennacer commanded the midfield but collapsed a bit in the second half. This wasn't a overall terrible game for Bennacer but just a little bit more could have been done by him. 5.5/10
GOOOOOOAAAALLLLL! REBIC! pic.twitter.com/2o58z9DJ9B

Franck Kessie: In my opinion Kessie wasn't that terrible in this match. Milan aren't asking him to be a super man in the midfield and frankly Kessie can't be that. However for what Stefano Pioli is asking of him Kessie is fitting that role. 6/10
Hakan Calhanoglu: In the first half we saw an inspired Hakan as he was finally unleashed to play behind the striker. He fits this mold well, definitely better then he has been on the wing. In the second half Hakan was atrocious defensively, if the team plays defensive then all 11 players on the pitch should have the same mindset. 5.5/10
Samu Castillejo: Honestly, didn't even notice Samu for much of the match. I’m not sure if he actually created any chances for Milan. It seemed as if the whole right side of Milan were lacking. 5/10
GOOOOOAAAALLLLLL! IBRAHIMOVIC! pic.twitter.com/3ycBctxPvv
— MilanGifs (@MilanGifs) February 9, 2020
Ante Rebic: Well, the good news is that Rebic scored again. What I saw from him in the first half was good as he was active in the attack. Like the rest of the Milan team the second half saw Rebic go silent. 7/10
Zlatan Ibrahimovic: What can I say at 38 years old Zlatan is still Zlatan. He played a massive part in both of the goals scored by Milan. There is no question in my mind that Milan should convince Ibra to come back next year. 7.5/10
SUBSTITUTES
Rafael Leao: After coming on Leao didn't have any real impact on the match. He had few touches on the ball and with that didn't see much action. 5/10
Lucas Paqueta: Just like Leao, Paqueta didn't get much time to shine. 5/10
Jack Bonaventura: N/A
