Rossoneri Round Up for Dec 9: AC Milan Ranked In Top 100 In Europe For Young Players Recruitment

The CIES European Football Observatory via Calcio e Finanza has published a report ranking clubs based on their focus on recruiting young players. The ranking look at major clubs across the 31 leagues of UEFA members focusing on the average age of players when they signed for a club. Youth academy players are not included.

Milan are the only club from Italy to make the top 100 of the list coming in at 97th place. Milan has an average recruitment age of 24.3 years. When looking at clubs in the top five European leagues only, Milan ranks 21st.

Over the years, Milan has recruited core players below that age who have gone on to rack up impressive appearances with the club such as Alessio Romagnoli (captain and 200 apearances), Franck Kessie (150 appearances), Theo Hernandez (50+ appearances), Ismael Bennacer (50+ appearances) and others such as Leao, Saelemaekers and Tonali.
