AC Milan travelled to Genova to face Sampdoria in the Serie A. Milan were missing Simon Kjaer, Ismael Bennacer and Zlatan Ibrahimovic for the game as they critically needed all three points after Inter Milan, Juventus and Lazio all won yesterday. Milan struggled to break open a compact Sampdoria defence but when they did on a number of occasions Diaz and Rebic struggled to finish or make the right decisions. Hernandez won a penalty at the end of the first half after a Jankto handball. Kessie stepped up and shot right down the middle putting Milan up 1-0. Hauge came on at the start of the second half but Milan were largely pressed back by Sampdoria and were on the back foot. Samu Castillejo came off the bench and scored within a few seconds after Hauge played in Rebic who squared the ball back for Castillejo to hit into the back of the net. Milan conceded shortly thereafter from yet another set piece as Ekdal headed down hard and Donnarumma was beaten. Milan held out for the final fifteen minutes to cling onto a vital three points for their campaign.
