AC Milan defender Simon Kjaer picked up an injury in the 4-2 win over Celtic FC in the Europa League on Thursday night. The Denmark international was forced to exit the game very early on after just 11 minutes. The defender seemed to pull his thigh muscle while chasing the ball and was replaced by Alessio Romagnoli after limping off.
Antonio Vitiello is now reporting that Kjaer has undergone tests that show he suffered a first degree lesion to his right thigh muscle. The centre back will be further evaluated in seven days thus he will miss a key match in Serie A against Sampdoria and the final group stage game of the Europa League against Sparta Praha. The defender could return in mid-December but it remains too early to tell. Matteo Gabbia will be expected to step up and take his place for the remainder of 2020 as necessary, the youngster has previously stepped in for captain Romagnoli for an extended period.
