AC Milan took to the field for the final time in 2020 against Lazio at the San Siro. Milan needed all three points to remain atop the table heading into the winter break. The side were missing numerous veterans and leaders but welcomed back Tonali and Rebic from injury. Milan struck first as Ante Rebic got his first goal of the season after a difficult few months with a placed header past Pepe Reina from a Calhanoglu corner. Milan went on to win a penalty for a horrific tackle of Rebic which Calhanoglu brilliantly put away to make it 2-0 sending Reina the wrong way. Milan were in the driving seat but conceded a ridiculously cheap penalty as Kalulu stepped on Correa's foot in the run up during a corner which the referee gave after reviewing with VAR. Ciro Immobile stepped up but Donnarumma made an incredible save onto the sidebar but Luis Alberto followed up with an easy header to pull one back. The game was battled out in the midfield but Kalulu was caught napping in the second half by a brilliant lobbed pass from Milinkovic Savic which found Immobile who slotted past Donnarumma to make it 2-2. Milan then pushed to try and take the lead through counter attacks, Stefano Pioli's made a number of changes but all seemed lost until the 90th minute. Milan won a corner, Calhanoglu curled it in and Theo Hernandez rose up early and scored with a thunderous header to take all three points and ensure Milan remain in the top spot going into the holidays.
