AC Milan travelled to face Sassuolo at the Mapei Stadium as they sorely lacked attacking options due to injuries. Rafael Leao burst right out of the gates to break a long standing record to score the fastest goal in the history of Serie A and in the top 5 European leagues with a goal in just 6.2 seconds. Hakan Calhanoglu set up the first goal and about eight minutes later struck a lovely volley into the back of the net from a Leao cut back but was ruled offside. Milan dominated the game and eventually got their second goal from a brilliant Theo Hernandez run and a cut back for Alexis Saelemaekers to hit into the back of the net. Milan did well all game and had a number of impressive chances to score even more but quieted down in the second half. Milan conceded a sloppy goal late in the second half as Alessio Romagnoli committed a foul right on the edge of the box and Berardi score the free kick thanks to a huge deflection off Hauge who ducked away from the wall.
