Europa League Group Stages Coming to a Close

Expect to see massive rotation, but big chances for fringe players to make a claim for more game time. The regular first-team names for AC Milan including Ismael Bennancer, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Alessio Romagnoli and Hakan Calhanoglu will not be called up, so there are many positions waiting to be filled. First place is also still up for grabs in Group H, so the team will have reason to put in a strong performance.

Sparta Praha’s time in the Europa League will officially be over, as it is mathematically impossible for them to qualify.

Milan: W, D, W, W, W

Sparta Praha: L, L, W, W, L

UEL Form

Lille 2–1 Sparta

Sparta 4–1 Celtic FC

Celtic 1-4 Sparta

Milan 3-0 Sparta

Sparta 1-4 Lille

Milan 3-0 Sparta

Milan 4-1 Sparta (2004)

Sparta 0-0 Milan (2004)

In the previous meeting between the sides, Milan enjoyed a 3–0 victory and will hope that the squad can continue the winning form, to give the team more confidence and options going forward. Sparta Praha is out, but have enjoyed some strong performances in their seventh debut in the Europa League. No doubt they will want to enjoy their last game and come back again.

Players to Watch

Samu Castillejo

With more goals coming from the Spanish winger, he will be making it harder and harder for Poili to look over him even when Rebic, Leao and Ibrahimovic return. Goals are not everything and to cement his place, decision-making and being a decisive player will be key. As a more experienced player tonight, he will have a chance to stand out.

Ciprian Tatarusanu

The Milan number 2 had a forgettable start, with very little time going to be available to him for the rest of the season, he will definitely want to keep a clean sheet and make a strong performance to move past his debut.

Lukas Julis

Leading the line with 12 goals in all competitions, the number 39 will be the biggest threat coming from Sparta Praha. This will be a difficult battle for Gabbia to learn from.

Prediction: Sparta 1 -1 Milan
