Fabrizio Romano for Calcio Mercato is reporting that AC Milan's priority for the winter transfer window is a centre back. Milan desperately tried closing deals for Ozan Kabak from Schalke 04 and Mohamed Simakan from Strasbourg on deadline day but struggled to get any deal over the line.
As we reported here previously, Milan are interested in young Hellas Verona centre back Matteo Lovato and were set to scout him in the fixture last night. The defender picked up a booking and conceded a penalty in the game but looked fantastic stifling Rafel Leao's runs and physically challenging Ibrahimovic and Calhanoglu. The centre back is expected to cost between 15-20 million euros.
Milan's Technical Director Paolo Maldini spoke to Sky Italia via MilanLive.it discussing Lovato, he said:
“He is a very interesting player, he is young and has an important structure. Like all young and good players teams pay attention, not only us.”
Juventus and Inter Milan are also said to be in the race for the defender.
