AC Milan got beat down by a young and energetic LOSC Lille in the Europa League last night. The Rossoneri made too many mistakes and were severely punished to flush a 24 game unbeaten streak down the toilet. Alessio Romagnoli has looked a shell of his former self and maybe needs more time to recover as he looked slow, heavy footed and error prone. He gave away a penalty in the first half which changed the tone of the game as Milan fell behind as Yazici netted from the spot. Some blame for the loss does lie with Stefano Pioli who rotated the squad against possibly the toughest opponent of the season. Samu Castillejo and Rade Krunic looked lost while Sandro Tonali still needs time before playing in crunch games. Milan were punished in the second half as Donnarumma made a silly mistake misjudging the ball on a long shot from Yazici and later on Milan got caught out on a counter attack as Lille put the game to bed. The tie showed once again that Milan are not ready to face quick, dynamic teams who can boss physically in the midfield and use their pace on the wings. The squad will need to pick themselves up real quick as they face a resilient Hellas Verona side this weekend.
