AC Milan reportedly followed and narrowly missed out on Strasbourg centre back Mohamed Simakan in the summer transfer window as the club refused to lower their asking price. Now Technical Director Paolo Maldini and the Simakan have spoken on the interest of Milan this week pointing that a second approach is possible.
Maldini spoke to Telefoot and confirmed Milan's interest in the defender last summer saying:
“We spoke with Simakan’s agents in the previous months and also the player himself. I must say that we also spoke with other Ligue 1 players. What we see in the French league is that, not being very tactical, players develop a lot of skill in one-on-one, both in attack and in defence.”
Simakan has now spoken to Onze in response and said:
“It’s quite flattering. It’s very kind of him. Maldini had a great career, he’s the best defender in history. I thank him for that, and we’ll try to show all that we can do afterwards. I must prove that those who believe in me are right. Today, I’m at Strasbourg. We will see for the rest in January.”
