Manuele Baiocchini via MilanNews.it is reporting that AC Milan are set to run into problems when trying to negotiate a contract renewal for trequartista Hakan Calhanoglu this season. The Turkey international has become a player transformed since the arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and the departure of Suso as he has become the core creative outlet in the squad. He has worn the no. 10 deservedly over the past few months scoring freely and providing a good number of assists. His current contract will expire in the coming summer in June 2021 and this Milan need to expedite a renewal deal.

Calhanoglu reportedly has different ambitions to being a core player for Milan as he reportedly want to be a protagonist on a Champions League side thus may look at other clubs if the conditions satisfy. Juventus and Atlético Madrid are reportedly considering to sign the player on a bosman deal next summer. Moreover, the report notes that there is quite some distance between the player's requested wage and what Milan have offered at the moment. This creates uncertainty that could force Milan to sell him in the winter transfer window despite him being one of the key players on the squad at the moment. The CAM has 27 goals and 39 assists for Milan in just above 3 seasons.
