AC Milan Reportedly Close Deal For Promising Young Valencia Striker

The youngster will immediately be loaned out hence Colombo remains the back up for the first team.

Salva Gomis via Sempre Milan is reporting that AC Milan have secured the signing on youngster Jordi Escobar from Valencia by paying the club a development compensation fee of 2.5 million euros. The 18 year old plays as a striker where he featured fro Valencia Mestalla in the previous season scoring 6 goals in all competitions and providing 1 assist.

The report adds that the player will sign his first professional contract with Milan (similar to the deal for Pierre Kalulu) but will immediately be loaned out to FC Groningen for further development and regular playing time.

As per an interview between Gomis and Sempre Milan, the following details have emerged;

Is the deal definitely done? Can we expect an announcement soon?

“The deal is not definitely closed. But here in Valencia they believe that the departure could be made official tomorrow.”

Have Milan followed the player for a while?

“Milan wanted him back in January.”

He will join Groningen this summer on loan?

“The Groningen thing is not yet clear either.”

Is this a big loss for Valencia?

“It is a big loss because he is a young international with Spain and has huge potential.”

What kind of a player is Escobar? Position, strengths, weaknesses?

“He is a tall, fast centre-forward with great technique. In youth teams he scored many goals and knows how to move very well.”
