Milan have drawn Celtic FC from Scotland, Sparta Prague from Czech Republic and LOSC Lille from France in Group H.
Milan reached the round of 16 in the 2017/18 season and did not get out of the group stage in the 2018/19 season. Milan voluntarily gave up their spot in the 2019/20 Europa League as they were not compliant with Financial Fair Play hence will return to Europe after one year out. The club will be looking to secure a deep run in the competition with a stronger and more experienced squad this season.
Milan will play their first group stage game on the 22nd of October with the final game of the group stages being played on the 10th of December.
Stefano Pioli spoke to ANSA via MilanNews.it and commented, “It’s a balanced group but not easy. Our three opponents occupy the first two places in their respective leagues. We will face them with great determination. Returning to Europe was our goal.”
Celtic are currently 1st, Sparta Prague are 1st and Lille are 2nd in their respective leagues.
