Calcio Mercato reported that AC Milan are keen on RB Salzburg youngster Luka Sucic for the winter transfer window as the 18 year old has caught the eye of the club. The young midfielder has transitioned from the youth team to the first team this season and has three appearances with the first team where has scored once and assisted once.
Sempre Milan spoke to the agent of the player Henrik Runde and this is what he had to say.
There have been reports in Italy that Milan are interested in Luka Sucic of Salzburg, can you confirm if that is correct?
“We read these reports of course. But we do not want say something more about it at the moment. But it is not a big surprise, that clubs are interested in a player like Luka Sucic.”
Would Luka be interested in playing for a club like Milan?
“Nearly every footballer is interested in playing in a top club in one of the biggest leagues in Europe. And of course Luka would like to take the next step, when it is the right time for it.”
Luka has made big strides over the last 12 months, impressing in the UEFA Youth League in particular, does he feel ready for the next step?
“He just made the next step when he played his first matches for Red Bull Salzburg. And he always wants to go on, to improve himself and his play.”
Would Salzburg stand in his way if he wanted to leave?
“Salzburg proved many times in the last years that they are able to develop players and to give them a chance to leave the club when it is the right time. And this is part of the club’s strategy. But we will see what will happen in the future.”
Finally, what kind of a player is Luka? What are his strengths, and who could he be compared to?
“Luka has a great technique with a really good left foot. He can play on several positions as a midfielder. And he scores! Of course it is always easy to compare a player with another player. But Luka Sucic is Luka Sucic and stands for his own.”
