After a thriller against Udinese, Milan were the favourite against Brescia. It seems as if every game Milan have played in the new year has been extremely open. The first half vs Brescia was very similar to the previous match as it was back and fourth, both sides having chances. For a period of time it seemed Brescia was at the doorstep of scoring a goal but thankfully the Milan defence denied all their attack. Milan had the best opportunity of the half as Zlatan missed a sitter from just a few feet from the net. Going into half it was a goalless draw.
The start of the second half saw Brescia dominate play as Milan were too casual with the ball giving it away every chance they got. Gigio Donnarumma was a super hero for Milan as he made outstanding saves to keep it scoreless. Brescia continued to apply pressure but Milan held strong. Out of nowhere Milan went on the attack and Zlatan sent a ball into the box. After a mad scramble Ante Rebic found the ball and put Milan up 1-0.
Now let’s look at the player rating for AC Milan
Gigio Donnarumma: Just simply brilliant from Gigio, there really isn't much else to say but amazing. 8/10
Andrea Conti: Conti didn't make a mistake to cost Milan a goal, I think we can all appreciate that. He made plays defensively and he was the one to start the Milan break that led to the goal. 6.5/10
Simon Kjaer: Not sure if Kjaer was on the pitch or Musacchio because they play fairly similar. Both had their good and bad moments and Kjaer surely had them vs Brescia. 6/10
Alessio Romagnoli: Back to form for our captain. This match Romagnoli really stuck out to me as he was at the centre of every breakup in the Brescia attack. After a mediocre few games it was good to see Alessio back. 7/10
Theo Hernandez: To my shock Hernandez had a game that was absolutely amazing. He was quiet in this match and only had a few attacking runs. But a mediocre match from Theo is still good in my books. 6.5/10
Ismael Bennacer: Bennacer like usual played a good match. He made some key passes that led to Milan chances however, I saw on a few occasions that Milan go overrun in the midfield. 6.5/10
Franck Kessie: I’ve come to the conclusion that Kessie will do what he’s told on the pitch but he won’t do anything spectacular. He is very good at winning possession in the middle of the pitch and that is what is required of him right now. 6/10
Hakan Calhanoglu: Calhanoglu like usual didn't impress me at all and I was surprised Stefano Pioli didn't give Ante Rebic the start. 5.5/10
Samu Castillejo: Castillejo’s work rate continues to impress because this guy just never gives up on a play. This wasn't his best match creatively but his work rate did make a difference. 6/10
Rafael Leao: Leao had some good and bad moments vs Brescia but overall it was a mediocre performance. He had plays where his skill and pace were shown off but he was unable to link with Zlatan. 6/10
Zlatan Ibrahimovic: Well, I have to mention the absolute sitter that Zlatan missed but other than that he had a fine match. He was the one who put the ball in the box that caused the scramble leading to the goal. 6.5/10
Ante Rebic: Well, look at this baller Ante Rebic. Rebic came on and did what he’s been doing and that was score to save Milan. This is now back to back matches where Rebic has come on to save the day. 7/10
Rade Krunic: N/A
