Journalist Louis Girardi reported on his twitter feed today that an offer for AC Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanolgu arrived from the Premier League. Newcastle United are reportedly interested in the Turkey international and have today put down an offer. The club has previously enquired about the midfielder and seem to be going forward to attempt to reinforce their squad to make a late push for the Europa League.

Calhanoglu could be deemed excess to requirements at the club given the option of Giacomo Bonaventursa and Ante Rebic as the left midfielder. The player arrived from Bayer Leverkusen two and a half seasons ago for 23 million euros or so. He currently is on a wage of 2.5 million euros per seasons and has a contract until 2021.
