Derby Preview: Our Writers Predictions for Milan - Inter This Weekend

Here are our predictions for the highly anticipated derby:

Milan take on Inter for the first Derby della Madonnina of the 2019/20 season. Inter Milan have been on fire winning their first three games of the season convincingly and sitting on top of the table. AC Milan lost their opener and meekly beat newly promoted teams 1-0 to sit in 7th place with six points. There is a lot of conflicting emotion and expectation around the derby so we got our writers at the AC Milan Offside to give their predictions on the game:

Patrick

Score: 1 - 2 Inter win

MOTM: Sensi

Flop OTM: Castillejo

Milan will be exposed on the counter and on set pieces. Lack of finishing in our final third and lack of creativity moving forward from the midfield. Defense will look fine but team will get outclassed.

Anto

Score: 1 - 3 Inter Win

MOTM: Lukaku

Flop OTM: Rodriguez

What won’t go wrong? After miserable performances over the first 3 match days, we will see the same poor roster management and uninspired play and pay for it. We just aren’t ready to pose a serious threat to Inter.

Alex

Score: 0 – 3 Inter Win

MOTM: Lukaku

Flop OTM: Musacchio

Milan will again come out and not be able to create any offense. Inter won’t score till 2nd half and then it will be the opening of the flood gates with potentially Musacchio master flub for a easy goal. Donnarumma will be the only Milan player to play well. We lack confidence and cannot at this point unlock a defense.

Douglas

Score: 3 - 1 Milan Win

MOTM: Paqueta

Flop OTM: Martinez

Conte comes out with a more work horse type of lineup, because hes a coward, and milan run riot for 60’ with the actually good XI. Barella comes on at 60 and lazzaro does too, inter run the next 30

Robbie

Score: 0 - 1 Inter Win

MOTM: Gigio Donnarumma

Flop OTM: Piatek or anyone that Giampaolo starts that shouldn’t be starting

Giampaolo will continue to insist on playing his starting eleven and not the most talent players. Milan will lack fluidity and fail to create chances.

Tim

Score: 1 - 2 Inter Win

MOTM: Stefano Sensi (Suso for Milan)

Flop OTM: Piatek

Piatek will score, but he will have one or two golden chances that he can’t put away. Milan will miss Calabria as Inter rip the Rossoneri up on the counter.

Muqqaddam

Score: 2 - 0 Milan Win

MOTM: Piatek

Flop OTM: Conte

Milan will come through with a surprise gritty performance. It will be an ugly win but Conte underestimating Milan will work in Giampaolo's favour. Piatek will score a brace off a Suso cross and a Calhanogly lay-off.

The summary of the predictions have five votes for Inter winning and two votes for Milan winning. The scores are predicted to be tight but five out of seven writers are predicting at least three goals in the game. Clean sheets are predicted to be unlikely for either side as only three predictions featured them for either side. MOTM is likely to be Sensi or Lukaku as they got two votes each showing high expectations for Inter’s new signings while Piatek is expected to be the flop of the match getting two votes.
