BEIN Sports are reporting that the mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala discussed the possibility of selling the San Sito to the clubs as a third option to the stadium saga. He was quoted saying “We have absolutely no need or interest to speculate about San Siro. I estimate San Siro to be worth around €70m.”
Mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala: “At this point there are two hypotheses: A new stadium in San Siro’s place or a stadium at Sesto San Giovanni. I’d like to add a third hypothesis: we are willing to sell San Siro.” pic.twitter.com/YTXMGgk5Nu

If this comes to fruition the clubs would look at a significant saving in terms of costs to buy and renovate the already iconic stadium. The plans for a new stadium have been slow and bogged down by bureaucracy but this new option provides a concrete solution. La scala del Calcio looks to have a lifeline.
