Milan is now linked to yet another central defender in this summer’s transfer window, although it’s not a league or club that is typically linked with Milan.

Milan are reportedly interested in 26 year-old former Manchester City central defender Matija Nastasic, who is currently at Schalke 04 in the Bundesliga. The club has reportedly given up on Liverpool’s Dejan Lovren, who would reportedly command a €25 million transfer fee, which seems rather high for a player that will turn 30 years old in less than a week.

It still seems a bit odd for Milan to be going after central defenders in the market, with the club still having Alessio Romagnoli, Mateo Musacchio, and Mattia Caldara in the squad. Perhaps the club thinks that Caldara may still miss significant amount of time next season after a wasted season due to injuries last year. Plus, the club allowed Colombia international Cristian Zapata to move on as well, meaning that the club is still a bit thin on defense.

At least Milan have seemingly given up on Lovren, which would have been a waste of money.

On to the links.
