AC Milan are reportedly still in the market for Fiorentina’s Jordan Veretout, along with AS Roma and Napoli. And in order to get the deal done, Milan are reportedly considering parting with at least one, if not more, players along with cash.

Because Veretout is in demand, it’s been reported that both Lucas Biglia and Patrick Cutrone have been offered as part of the deal. Biglia was brought to Milan when Vincenzo Montella was in charge, and Cutrone played under Montella as well.
Would parting with someone like Cutrone be worth it to get Veretout? Marco Giampaolo uses a two-striker system and despite the large transfer fee, Andre Silva hasn’t proven to be worth a starting spot at both Milan and Sevilla. Parting with Cutrone would leave a hole that would need to be filled, as there are no other recognized strikers currently on the roster besides first-choice Krzysztof Piatek.
Milan would not be well served by filling one hole by creating another one, so if Milan do let Cutrone go, they’d spend the money that they’d save on the Veretout transfer on getting a new striker. For that reason alone, let’s hope that Paolo Maldini and Ricky Massara don’t part with Cutrone to get this deal done.
