Since the appointment of Paolo Maldini as technical director and Zvonimir Boban as Chief Football Officer AC Milan have been linked to numerous names in the transfer market. Two of the biggest names they have been linked to are Lucas Torreria and Kostas Manolas. For more news about Lucas Torreria and his potential move to Milan check out this article written by our own Pete Schlenker.
Mino Raiola (Manolas' agent) was contacted directly by Maldini and Massara. Raiola has given Milan the green light even without Champions League. Milan have monitored the situation with Manolas and his agent Mino Raiola; who is being reinstated, a move could be done in the coming weeks. However, a few obstacles remain. It is being reported that Juventus and Napoli are also in the hunt for the player with the latter reportedly agreeing to terms with Manolas. With competition from other teams the best option for Milan might be to trigger the 36 million euro buyout clause in which they previously asked for a discount on.
Manolas has been a crucial player for Roma since joining the club. He has anchored their backline appearing in over 150 matches and he is one of the few players that Roma has held onto. We have seen Roma let go of important players in the past like Radja Nainggolan and Miralem Pjanic to Inter Milan and Juventus respectively. For Milan a defensive pairing of Romagnoli and Manolas could be one of the top parings in Serie A. Manolas would be injected right into the starting eleven in place of Matteo Musacchio, a player who could be sacrificed if this move does go through.
