Another day, another transfer rumor involving Milan.

Milan are reportedly scouting Mail U20 international Sekou Koita, who played, and scored, for the Mali U20 team that lost to Italy in the U20 World Cup. Koita, who has played his senior career in Austria, is set to transfer to Red Bull Salzburg from lower-league Austrian club FC Liefering. Koita spent part last season on loan at Austria Bundesliga side Wolfsburger AC, where he scored five goals and registered four assists in 14 appearances. In the first half of the season, he was at his parent club FC Liefering, where he racked up three assists and a single goal in nine appearances.
Is this a legitimate rumor? Well, the club has supposedly decided to bring in young talent to the club and Koita is still only 19. However, he’s yet to prove himself in a bigger league and Europe is littered with players who showed promise as teenagers in leagues like the Austrian Bundesliga before never quite making it once they hit the big time.
Either someone’s agent is trying to get a better paycheck or Koita turned heads at the U20 World Cup. Either way, even if this rumor turns out to be true and he signs for Milan, don’t expect him to feature in the first team anytime soon.
