Napoli have reportedly offered Milan Mario Rui, who lost his place as the starting left-back spot this season. Why exactly would Milan be interested in him?

The Portugal international’s value has tumbled as he’s not in the plans of Carlo Ancelotti. He was “linked” with a move to Chelsea last summer, but he stayed at Napoli and now he’s reportedly on the move.
Milan have Ricardo Rodriguez, Diego Laxalt and Ivan Strinic on the roster as left backs currently, so why add another? Laxalt didn’t always perform up to expectations and Strinic’s career might be over, no matter what the doctors have said about his ability to come back from his heart condition, and while Milan might want to move on from them, why would Milan choose to spend money on a back-up left back? He’s not going to unseat Rodriguez, and Laxalt might not be great, but he’s good enough. Milan has issues at winger and central midfield, so until those issues are sorted out, buying another left back is a luxury that Milan can’t afford.
On to the links.
