This Milan derby was one of the most anticipated in recent years and it surely did not disappoint even if the result wasn’t in our favour. An entertaining game with Inter Milan dominating for the better part of 50 minutes, they did not allow AC Milan to build their attack from the back.

After 56 minutes Milan finally woke up and found the back of the net with Bakayoko scoring his first goal in a AC Milan jersey. Just 10 minutes later Inter were awarded a penalty and Lautaro Martinez capitalized. However Milan kept fighting and Mateo Musacchio scored in the 72nd minute. Sadly their effort wasn't enough as Milan failed to secure a third goal. Milan still sit in 4th and remain in a Champions League spot.

Now let us look at each players performance. Make sure to leave your comments below and follow us on Twitter @SBNRossonero
STARTING LINE-UP
Gianluigi Donnarumma- Not much could be said about Donnarumma’s performance in this game. He surely could have done better on the first goal not allowing the ball to sail over his head and let Martinez square it to Vecino. However Donnarumma made some quality saves to keep AC Milan in the game. 6/10
Davide Calabria- Calabria was fairly solid aside from the first goal where he could have done a better job to get to the ball first. After that Calabria calmed down but like most of the team they did not preform for the majority of the game. 6/10
Mateo Musacchio- Musacchio put in a classic Musacchio performance playing fine but not doing anything exceptional. At times he was caught out of position but other times he made fine tackles. Surprisingly Musacchio was the one that scored to bring Milan within one. 6/10

Alessio Romagnoli- After weeks of not making a mistake Romagnoli was at fault in a couple circumstances during the derby. On Inter Milan’s first Romagnoli was careless to let Vecino get in-front of him and put the ball in the back of the net. During Inter’s second goal he was the one covering de Vrij and allowed him space to head the ball in. This was surely a day to forget for Romagnoli. 5.5/10
Ricardo Rodriguez- This was a shockingly awful performance by Rodriguez in this game. He looked nervous on the ball not creating any chances and getting it stolen quite easily. There is not much to say about this performance aside that is was a low point of his AC Milan career. 4.5/10
Tiemoue Bakayoko- A bright spot in a poor team performance Bakayoko impressed in the derby. Constantly winning balls in the midfield and making runs, he was a big factor to the Milan comeback. Bakayoko even scored his first goal in a Milan jersey with a beautiful header just out of the reach of Handanovic. 7/10

Lucas Paqueta- Another underwhelming performance from Paqueta in this match. Again he looked tired and did not track back on defence to fill in the gaps. It seems playing the full season in Brazil and coming to the Italian league has taken a physical toll on him. After a short rest Paqueta should return to form. 5/10
Franck Kessie- A strange performance from Kessie in this game, we didn't see much of him in the midfield or making many attacking runs. Kessie even played at right back during this game, playing fine in the short time he was put there. However all of that will be overshadowed by how he acted when he was subbed off getting into an altercation with Lucas Biglia. 5.5/10
Kessie apologizes for the scene:

"In the heat of the moment you can make mistakes. I wanted to win the game. Me and Lucas have cleared things up. I want to apologize to the fans and the club. These 10 minutes of anger should not influence our season". pic.twitter.com/gFFsqwMmFq
Suso- Much like the rest of the team Suso started the game off very poor and it took him a while to finally create chances. After the game started to open up Suso found space and excelled putting crosses inside the box. Suso was the one that floated the ball in the box to cause commotion in front of Handanovic to create Milan’s second goal. 6/10
Krzysztof Piatek- Another game where Piatek did not get much service. Piatek would have loved to score in the derby but the chances just were not there. Much of the game he was swallowed by Inter’s defenders and had no space. In the one chance he got, Piatek almost capitalized with a flip off his back heel that sailed wide. 5/10
Hakan Clahanolgu- A very energetic performance by Clahanolgu in this match. He brought creativity to this underwhelming Milan side and controlled their attack for much of the game. Assisting on Milan’s first goal, it seems his form continues to improve. 7/10
The support the fans show during the Derby della Madonnina is UNMATCHED.

Substitutes
Samu Castillejo- Coming in right after half time for Lucas Paqueta, Castillejo brought an element of pace to this Milan side creating a few chances but he did give up the penalty to put the game away for Inter. He continues to make a case to be in the starting eleven after a string of good performances. In my opinion Gattuso should look to play Castillejo on the wing and move Clahanolgu inside. 5.5/10
Patrick Cutrone- Finally Cutrone got his opportunity to play early on in the second half. Like every other match he hustled and ran after even ball. He was not effective in the final third and lacked the technique needed to put another goal on the board. In the final seconds of the game Cutrone had a golden opportunity to score but failed to convert as an Inter defender blocked his shot. 5.5/10
Andrea Conti- Coming on at right back with 20 minutes left in the game. Conti put in a better performance from what we saw in last weeks win but it still was not anything too impressive. Conti was controversially given a red card for a slide tackle late in the game but it was then checked by VAR and converted to a yellow card. 5.5/10
Hopefully this loss and the argument between Kessie and Biglia doesn't make the team lose focus on their goal of Champions league.
